More Than 60 Mouth-Puckering Beers Going on Tap for Devils' Den's Fifth Annual Sour Fest, Aug. 16 - 22
Get ready to pucker up those sour-pusses, beer nerds. South Philly’s Devil’s Den is kicking off its annual weeklong Sour Fest on Saturday, August 16. It runs through Friday, August 22.
For this, it’s fifth time around, the fest has more than 60 hard-to-find and highly sought after tart and funky brews lined up, 17 of which will be on tap for the kickoff.
Throughout the week the tap lists will change as kicked kegs are replaced with others on deck. Devil’s Den hasn’t released to full list of beers lined up yet, but we’re told that a few to look out for include Off Color’s Troublesome, Bruery’s Sour in the Rye, Bruery’s Oude Tart, Ithaca’s White Gold, and eight sours from Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales.
Along with pouring sour beers all week, Devil’s Den will host a special Interactive Sour Beer Class led by Award-Winning beer writer and author Don Russell (aka Joe Sixpack) on Tuesday, August 19 from 7 to 10 PM. The evening will include six 6 oz. pours of specially selected sour beers that will be paired with appetizers. Russell will discuss each beer, and talk a little bit about the different brewing techniques used to create them. The tasting costs $35 per person, and tickets (get them here) are required.
