Saturday's Passyunk Square Home Show Includes an Exclusive Preview of Forthcoming Brigantessa

Brigantessa, the long-awaited addition to East Passyunk Avenue's ever-booming bar and restaurant scene from Le Virtu owners Francis Cratil Cretarola and Cathy Lee and Chef Joe Cicala, is poised to make its big debut in any second.

Though there’s still no word on when it will officially open to the public, a quick look at social media tells us that pre-launch prep, like mock service and friends-and-family dinners, are already underway. There’s also plenty of buzz about the Southern-Italian focused forneria flying under the radar in soft-launch mode through the weekend, too. But the owners will not confirm any of it.

Still, if you’re simply dying to be one of the first few to taste, tweet and otherwise brag about Cicala’s Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana-certified Neapolitan pizzas, housemade salumis and traditional pasta dishes, a ticket to Passyunk Square Civic Association’s annual Home Tour  on Saturday, October 11, will get you in for an exclusive preview.

The self-guided tour showcases a broad selection of homes in South Philly’s Passyunk Square neighborhood, featuring houses in all stages of renovation. Each year the event, which is the PSCA’s most successful and important fundraisers, gives tour-goers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to check out amazing houses, get ideas, compare contractors and meet neighbors.

This year’s added bonus is a private preview of one of the neighborhood’s most anticipated restaurant openings, complete with complimentary drinks and food. The home tour runs noon to 4 PM, and the Brigantessa preview goes 3 PM to 6 PM.

Advance tickets are going for $20. Day-of tickets will run $25. Check out PSCA’s website for ticket information. Day-of tickets will be available at St. Maron Community Center, 1013 Ellsworth Street, beginning at 11 am.
