There’s no shortage of bars and clubs around Sea Isle City, but when it comes to the craft beer selection, most locals would have to make the trek to Cape May to really get their fill. But that’s scheduled to change as of this year, as owners announced the opening of the Sea Isle Brewing Company as sometime this fall.

Co-Founders Caitlin Doyle and Eric Weiss have been brewing down the shore for several years, but have decided to take the leap with a shopfront. Their business license application was approved towards the end of 2014. Though the location has yet to be determined, Doyle and Weiss plan to open as a distribution-only brewery, and sell year-round with seasonal brews to meet their audience’s demands.

Doyle and Weiss have earned some local celebrity with their Polar Bear Porter, a 6.2% ABV honey porter brewed to celebrate Sea Isle City’s annual Polar Bear Plunge. They also have their own bike team, the Sea Isle Brew Crew, which has competed nationally. Some other beers the team has been testing for the opening are the Landis Lager, Exit 17 IPA and Pleasure Ave. Pale Ale. All of their beers have been brewed on a custom fabricated brew rig. The team plans to provide beer for local Sea Isle taps, and eventually start canning for the local market.

With the Polar Bear Plunge just around the corner, you may be able to find them out and about sampling the porter around Sea Isle, but in the meantime Doyle and Weiss keep the updates coming on their Facebook page, and also sell t-shirts for the brewery from time-to-time.
