North Drinkware Introduces a Pint with a View

by Kate Monzo on Feb 6, 2015 in Culture

What’s better than sipping on a craft beer out of a locally made, hand-blown pint glass? Sipping on a craft beer out of a locally made, hand blown pint glass with mountains at the bottom, of course!

That’s right, North Drinkware of Oregon has finally made it possible to drink a beer with a view. Oregon is home to Portland, the city with more breweries than we can count, the leader in percentage of dollars spent on craft beer and now, North Drinkware. It only makes sense that the next step for Oregon is the “satisfying experience of drinking a locally crafted beer out of a locally crafted glass.”

North Drinkware is allowing beer-lovers everywhere to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mt. Hood, Oregon’s highest peak at 11,250 feet, while sipping on your brew. According to the Kickstarter, founders Nic Ramirez, Matt Capozzi and Leigh Capozzi made The Oregon Pint because they “wanted a glass with a connection to the places where we live and play.” The pint is supposed to deliver an “enhanced experience when enjoying a beer and swapping stories after a ride” or even after “a day on the hill.”

North Drinkware gathered data of the ridges, canyons and the peak of Mt. Hood from the United States Geological Survey, and integrated a 3D mold of the mountain into the bottom of the hand-blown pint. To create the glass, the folks at North Drinkware partnered with Elements Glass, a glass blowing studio also based out of Portland.

The Kickstarter has already raised well beyond its funding goal of $15,000 with more than 3,000 backers, and it still has 26 days to go. Reward options vary from a “virtual cheers” to an ten Oregon Pints with a set of four handmade North Drinkware birch coaster. To grab your own pint with a view, head over to the Kickstarter page before time’s up.
