Sam Calagione, the esteemed founder and president of Dogfish Head, is launching a new quarterly print magazine today called Pallet, which is billed as a publication “created for people who like to think and drink.” Calagione will take on the post of Executive Editor in addition to his Dogfish duties, and he promises that Pallet’s coverage will extend far beyond beer. The first issue alone has a piece on Dolly Parton, an interview with Eric Wareheim (of Tim & Eric and, most recently, the new Netflix series Master of None), and a feature on big rig trucking.
 

It may seem like an odd choice to go for a print magazine in a digital age, but Calagione says that’s the point - he’s going for a more visual medium that requires the reader to slow down and focus on what they’re reading, rather than just flipping through it on their phone screen.
