Where to Grab a Drink at the Love Park Christmas Village

by Robin Shreeves on Nov 25, 2015 in Roundups

If you want to get toasty with an alcoholic beverage when visiting the Christmas Village at Love Park this holiday season, there are only two booths you can hit – both operated by Chaddsford Winery. The winery will be selling mulled wine by the mug to keep you warm while you’re visiting the village or bottles to purchase to take home. You can also join them for Tasting Tuesdays and Thursdays for ticketed cheese or chocolate pairings.

Mulled wine made from Chaddsford’s Holiday Spirit or Spiced Apple wine is available any time when the Christmas Village is open at the winery’s booths located in spaces 13 and 58. Served in a souvenir mug, the mulled wine is $8 and refills are $6. Bottles of wines to take home are also available for purchase any time the village is open.

The Tuesday and Thursday tastings will be held in the new wine garden and seating area, a heated tent located by the winery’s booth in space 13 (near the corner of Arch and 16th Streets). Tastings are from 4–7 PM. Timed tickets for the event are $8 and include a souvenir wine glass. Advanced tickets can be purchased at Chaddsford.com, and reservations are highly suggested.

On Tuesdays, Proprietors Reserve Red Wine, Proprietors Reserve White Wine, and Spiced Apple Wine will be paired with three Weaver’s Way Co-op cheeses.

On Thursdays, Proprietors Reserve Red Wine, Proprietors Reserve White Wine, and Spiced Apple Wine will be paired with chocolates provided by Tradestone Confections

Monday through Thursday, 5–7 PM is Happy Hour at Christmas Village with $2 off select food at German Grill and $2 off mulled wine from Chaddsford Winery. Or, pair your mulled wine any time at the Christmas Village with food from vendors like the Berlin Döner Kebab BoothGerman Grill/Weihnachtshütte with bratwursts, potato pancakes, potato salad, and Sauerkraut, Helmut's Original Austrian Strudel, John & Kira’s hand-crafted chocolates, Pretzelphoria, The Bacon Jams with spreadable bacon preserve, the Wandering Waffle with Belgian waffles and tasting toppings, and plenty more.

In addition to enjoying good food and drink, visitors to the village can shop for gifts and holiday ornaments at many of the 70 booths at this traditional open-air German Christmas Market.

Located in Philadelphia’s Love Park at 15th and JFK Boulevard, the Christmas Village will be open Thanksgiving Day (to coincide with the annual Thanksgiving Parade) and remain open through Sunday, December 27.

Daily market hours are Friday through Saturday, 11 AM to 8 PM, and Sunday through Thursday, 11 AM to 7 PM. Thanksgiving Day hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, and Christmas Eve hours are 11 AM to 5 PM (closed on Christmas Day).
