Where to Celebrate Valentine's Day 2016 in Philadelphia

Where to Celebrate Valentine's Day 2016 in Philadelphia
Ah, Valentine’s Day. The holiday where chocolates and roses reign supreme, and we let corny cards convey our feelings. This love-filled holiday happens to fall on a Sunday this year, meaning many folks will have the whole day (or weekend) to shower that special someone with affection. If you have yet to make Valentine’s plans, let us help! We’ve selected some rather unique offerings from around the city.

For Early Risers
Even though Valentine’s Day isn't until Sunday, why not kick off the love-filled weekend with brunch on Saturday. Get to Cuba Libre for an Unlimited Tapas Brunch featuring all you can eat small plates. Pair the meal with $5 mimosas, sangrias, and caipirinhas or try the special Cacao Mojito made with SelvaRey cacao rum, coffee vanilla liqueur, guarapo, lime, mint, and served with an edible chocolate-vanilla straw. Brunch is available until 1:30 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and the tapas menu is available to browse here.

If you have little ones, the special Valentine's Day brunch at Square 1682 might be the brunch for you. Kids can create their own cookie while adults enjoy brunch items like Red Velvet Pancakes with sweet cream cheese layers, vahlrona chocolate sauce, and vanilla bean whipped cream or a French Toast Sandwich with slow roasted duck, frisee + fennel, lingonberry mustard, and a fried egg.

If you overdo it on Saturday night, Palladino’s is running a special Valentine’s Brunch on Sunday, February 14, with dishes like the Maine Lobster Poached Eggs and drinks like the San Valentino made with sparkling rosé, a sugar cube, bitters, rose water, and a lemon twist. Brunch starts at 10:30 AM and runs until 2:30 PM.

For Wine Lovers
If you're a fan of rosés, you're in luck. Three Tria locations, Rittenhouse, Wash West, and Fitler Square, will have 10 different rosés available for $10 each. Check out the wine list here. Stop by anytime on Friday, February 12, or Saturday, February 13 to sip some tasty pink wines.

Wine and Chocolate Together Forever
Join Shane's Candies and Panorama on February 9 for a Wine & Chocolate pairing in Old City. For $35, you can sample wines that have been expertly paired with Shane's chocolates and truffles. Additional information and tickets are available here

Take your sweetie on a wine and chocolate walking tour through Chaddsford Winery any weekend in February. Tickets are $25 a piece and include six pairings. Sip on Chaddsford's award-winning wines while sampling chocolates from John & Kira's Chocolates. Grab more information here

For Traditionalists
Nothing says Valentine’s Day better than a romantic candlelit dinner with your significant other. Set the mood with a four-course dinner at Panorama. For $75, you have the option to try oysters, house-made pasta, veal, or anything else you fancy on the menu. The menu is available from Friday through Sunday.

Looking for something in the Fairmount neighborhood? London Grill has a three-course tasting dinner on February 13 and 14. The pre-fixe menu is $40 per person. An a-la-carte dinner menu will be offered both nights as well. Get adventurous and try the Veal Breast with crispy sweetbreads, polenta, and natural jus or a Cauliflower Steak with olives, cured lemon, and almond romesco.

For Those Whose One True Love is Beer
If you want to still keep it a little traditional with a special V-Day dinner, but would prefer a beer with your meal, make reservations at Bottle Bar East. For $75, a couple can get two appetizers, two entrees, a dessert, and a large format beer. Reservations are a must and can be made by emailing heather@bottlebareast.com

Or, dine with one of the most famous couples of all time, pizza and beer, at Clarkville. This new West Philly beer bar has a Valentine's special that includes two appetizers, a heart shaped cheese pizza, and a dessert for just $25. This deal will run all weekend long. What could possibly be more romantic?

For The Anti-Valentine’s Crowd

If you don't have a Valentine, you're more than welcome at City Tap House in University City for the Cupid Is Stupid, Suds For Our Buds event on Saturday, February 13. The bar will be blending lambics and stouts to create some magically delicious love potions. Try mixing a Yards Love Stout with Timmerman's or a tart Boon kriek. Or maybe blend a Young's Double Chocolate Stout with the Ducchess de Bourgeoge. You can't go wrong when beer is your Valentine.

If you're really, really not in the Valentine's Day mood, head to Brewerytown's Crime & Punishment Brewing Co. on Sunday, February 14 for the Super Deluxe Emo Extravaganza. Guests are encouraged to BYO emo vinyls or CDs from 5 PM–12 AM. Get $1 off all drafts during a special extended happy hour from 9 PM–12 AM. For an added bonus, bring in a picture of your ex for Crime & Punishment to rip up and get your first beer half off.
