Cigar City Brewing, an independent brewery based in Tampa, is selling controlling interest to Fireman Capital.

 

Fireman Capital, which is located in Boston, owns controlling shares in several other craft breweries (including Perrin Brewing and Oskar Blues). In fact, the breweries that fall under the Fireman Capital umbrella make up an organization of their own referred to as United Craft Brews LLC. This group is pretty powerful and was responsible for more than 320,000 barrels of beer produced in 2015 alone.

This news is a little surprising, however, considering that AB-InBev had signed an actual letter of intent with Cigar City’s founder Joey Redner, but the deal ended up falling through. Lucky for Fireman Capital, this purchase will just help them along their path to worldwide craft brewery domination.
