Morgan's Pier Announces 2016's New Guest Chef and Opening Date
The wonderful waterfront institution that is Morgan’s Pier has just announced this year’s guest chef along with 2016’s opening date. The 2016 season will kick off on Thursday, April 21, with Jim Burke at the helm.
Jim Burke, owner and executive chef of critically acclaimed JAMES and nominee for the James Beard Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic Award, recently returned to Philadelphia after a stint in New York. Burke and his wife Kristina are still working on their next Philly project, but in the meantime, Burke will be the Chef-in-Residence for the 2016 season at the Pier.
Burke drew inspiration for this year’s menu from his experiences in Italy as well as from his collaboration with Chef Daniel Boulud. The menu will feature a number of shareable plates along with favorites from season’s past and some signature dishes from Chef Burke. Look for past favorites like Snack Bacon, Elote Corn Salad, and Lobster Rolls along side new treats like Gnocchi Gratinata with summer truffles and Fisherman’s Stew with saffron-tomato broth and garlic bread.
Morgan’s Pier will again be open Monday through Friday, 4 PM–2 AM, and Saturday and Sunday, 11 AM–2AM. Stay tuned for more details about this year’s menu and beverage options. In the meantime, visit morganspier.com or call 215-279-7134 for more information.
