Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2016 in Philadelphia
Many folks get Cinco de Mayo confused with Mexican Independence Day, which is actually celebrated in September. Cinco de Mayo, rather, commemorates Mexico’s underdog style victory over France in the Battle of Puebla, which occurred on May 5, 1862.

Now that we’ve gotten that history out of the way, we all know Philadelphians love their Margarita Mondays and their Taco Tuesdays, so it comes as no surprise we also love to an excuse to party on Cinco de Mayo.  Here’s where you can get your tequila and taco fix on May 5th in La Ciudad del Amor Fraternal, or the City of Brotherly Love!

Bainbridge Street Barrel House will be offering their usual $5 margs, but will also host some fun events for the Craft Brewers Conference. From 4 - 6 PM, they’ll have a happy hour featuring Lakefront Brewery — who will be sending some special brews, including Black Friday. Then, at 7 PM, the Brewery will be taking over the taps with their brews, including crowd favorite Chocolate Rain. Check their Facebook page for a full list of beers and more info on the events. (625 S 6th St.; 267-324-3553)

This authentic Mexican BYOB will be serving two special Puebla dishes: the Chile Relleno & the Pollo Mole to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. They’ll also offer a special three tacos for $8.50 all day, and to wash it all down, carafes of margarita mixers will be available if you plan on bringing your own booze. (2025 Washington Ave.; 215-278-7579)

Visit this No Libs hang out for Cinco de Mayo happy hour from 4 - 6 PM featuring $2 Off drafts, $2 Mexican beers, $20 pitchers, and $5.50 margaritas and sangria. (931 N 2nd St.; 215-629-0500)
