Philadelphia Bars Will Be Able to Stay Open Later During the DNC
According to Philadelphia Magazine, bars will be able to extend their closing hours while the DNC is in town — but not before those bars jump through some more hoops.
Only bars that are “holding events directly connected to” the DNC will be able to take advantage of this bill, which was passed on July 13, and the DNC will have to pay a $5,000 fee to the PLCB to make this exemption happen. However, bars looking to extend their hours will also have to fill out an application, which will be made available to them through the DNC Host Committee and then submitted directly to the PLCB so that they can issue the permits to individual bars. Besides extended hours, any businesses that are approved will be able to sell donated alcohol and imported alcohol, which means some bars could get their hands on wines and spirits that are unavailable through PLCB stores.
