Where to Celebrate Labor Day 2016 in Philly

by Jessie Donofrio on Sep 1, 2016 in Roundups

Another summer seemingly flew by — lots of drinks were enjoyed and memories made, but the fun isn’t over yet! There’s one more weekend, and a special one at that, until pumpkin beers and crisp ciders are back on tap. It’s Labor Day Weekend here in Philadelphia, meaning it’s time to enjoy that grapefruit shandy and soak up the sun until the Eagles season comes around.

Thursday, September 1
Night Market, 6PM-10PM
Although Thursday isn’t technically the weekend, you can’t miss out on the next installment of Night Market. This huge food truck festival will be taking place “under 95” at Front and Snyder streets. Over 50 food and drink vendors will be serving up deliciousness, and West Philly’s own Chill Moody is set to make a performance.

Thursday, September 1
Summer Beer Garden Mütter Museum, 6PM-10PM
Grab your tickets for a one-night-only beer garden with full access to the museum of medical oddities. Tickets are free for members and $12 for non members. Beer and sangria will be served alongside light snacks.

Thursday, September 1 through Monday, September 5
Parks on Tap at FDR Park
Catch this traveling beer garden this weekend in South Philly! They’ll have great craft beer and food options, including 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon on draft and 6 different kinds of sliders. Stop by the park on Saturday or Sunday for a free music festival too!

Through September 5
Blue Cross RiverRink SummerFest
Lace up your roller skates, because it’s the last weekend of the RiverRink Summerfest! As well as skating, you can imbibe at the Chickie’s & Pete’s Waterfront Crabshack, play some mini golf, and hang out at the lodge.

Friday, September 2 through Sunday, September 4
Eulogy’s 11th Annual Belgian Beer Weekend
Head to Old City for a huge Belgian celebration all weekend long. Eulogy will have over 20 Belgian brews on tap as well as a plethora of Belgian food offerings. Everything is pay as you go.

Saturday, September 3 through Saturday, September 4
Made in America Festival
Back for its 5th year, Jay Z’s music festival will be taking over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway this weekend. Headliners include Rihanna and Coldplay with other featured artists such as Jamie xx, DJ Khaled, Grimes, and many more. Two day passes are still on sale along with single day passes.

All Weekend
Rooftop Bars
What’s better than spending your Labor Day Weekend cocktail in hand with incredible views of the city? Head to one of Philly’s awesome rooftop bars such as Bok Bar or Stratus Lounge for just that. Didn’t get tickets to Made in America? Swing by Assembly Rooftop Lounge or SkyGarten for incredible views of the parkway - you may even hear a tune or two from up there.

Saturday, September 3 through Monday, September 5
144th Labor Day Volksfest
Visit Northeast Philly this weekend for the longest running German volksfest in the US. The Cannstatter will be hosting this huge party equipped with three full days of German beer and wine, traditional German food, crafts, amusement rides, music and more! Tickets are $6 for one day, $9 for two days, and $11 for all three.

Saturday, September 3 through Monday, September 5
PHS South Street Beer Garden Luau
Enjoy an end of summer Luau party all weekend at this popular beer garden. The garden, which is run by the Khyber Pass Pub, will be having a pig roast, live music and drink specials. Everything is pay as you go.

Monday, September 5
Labor Day Brunch at Aqimero, 11AM-3PM
Is there any better way to top off your weekend than with a bottomless brunch?  This Monday, you can dine on a $65 three course meal that includes a sushi sampler, crab benedict, steak frites, seared scallops and more. Drink options include bottomless mango mimosas and bloody marias. Good news — if you can’t make it to brunch this weekend, this brunch menu is available every Saturday and Sunday.
