Sip and Learn at DesignPhiladelphia Happy Hours, Oct. 6-16

DesignPhiladelphia, a ten day festival celebrating art, architecture, and design is hitting Philadelphia Thursday, October 6 through Sunday, October 16. This year’s events feature tons of opportunities for imbibing while enjoying the best of Philadelphia’s art culture. Here are some of the best events and happy hours of the festival where you can sip & gather some knowledge.
 
Wednesday, October 5, 6–10 PM
What’s a great festival without a kickoff party? The party will be held at Provenance, a huge warehouse in Fishtown filled with architectural relics, and  for the night, food and drink. Tickets are $30 for students and $60 for everyone else. (1801 N American St.)
 
Every day of the festival excluding Sundays, 6–9 PM
This event is an educational bar crawl taking participants on a tour through Philadelphia’s changing neighborhoods. The crawl will begin in Fishtown at Wm. Mulherin’s Sons and take stops through Midtown Village, Point Breeze and more. Tickets are $15 and include transport plus a drink. (1355 Front St.)
 
Thursday, October 6, 5–8 PM
Join the Pennsylvania SPCA for a happy hour for a good cause. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to kick off the 'Design on a Dime' Rooster Housing Design Build Competition. Tickets are $25. (350 E Erie Ave.)
 
Thursday, October 6, 5:30–7:30 PM
This free event sponsored by LiquidHub is meant to bring people together to design an unconventional living space. There will be food and drink to help with the learning. Registration is required. (1 S Broad St.,19th Floor)
 
Friday, October 7, 6–10 PM
MIO, Bose Professional, and DJ Ben Arsenal have partnered to create an interactive sound installation. Visitors will be able to mix sounds while enjoying cocktails. The event is completely free. (511 N 13th St.)
 
Friday, October 14, 6–9 PM
Visit this Northern Liberties exhibit for its closing reception. The studio, located in the former Ortlieb Brewing building, includes full-scale models such as a custom facade structure of the new US Embassy in London. (841 N American St.)
 
Friday, October 14, 7–10 PM
Celebrate the first anniversary of one of Philadelphia’s best furniture collections with music and drinks. The event is free but you must RSVP.(33 N 2nd St.)
