Monk's Cafe to Tap Rare Zwanze Lambic, Oct. 1

by Drink Philly on Sep 29, 2016 in Beer for Monk's Cafe
Monk’s Cafe will be one of few bars in the world to tap Belgian brewery Cantillon’s Zwanze Lambic on Saturday, October 1. The event will begin at noon with the tapping taking place at 3 PM and definitely expect long lines for this ultra rare beer.

Zwanze was first brewed in 2008 with rhubard and this year's brew will be made with raspberries, blueberries, and vanilla. It is considered a rare beer because it is only tapped once a year at select locations around the world and each vintage is different. The word zwanze in Brussels dialect refers to sarcastic humor which is the inspiration behind the experimental and changing aspect of the beer. Cantillon brewer Jean Van Roy has used the beer and its celebration day as a reason for lambic lovers to convene.

Besides Zwanze, Monk’s will also be tapping four other Cantillon beers along with a whole host of other rare brews.

Beer list:
2010 Lost Abbey Red Poppy
2010 Russian River Consencration
