Friday Saturday Sunday Has Reopened in Rittenhouse Square
Friday Saturday Sunday, the long-standing neighborhood restaurant in Rittenhouse Square that first opened in the 1970s, recently reopened after a series of renovations at 261 S 21st St.Chad and Hanna Williams, the space’s new proprietors, kept the name and neighborhood feel to honor the history of the storied restaurant (and the building itself, which dates to the 1890s), but wanted to give the space a fresh feel and a modern vibe to better fit with Philadelphia’s evolving restaurant scene. Though the layout once consisted of dining on the first floor and an upstairs bar, the setup has been swapped, with a clean, white 14 seat marble bar with gold accents taking center stage on the first floor and a comfortable dining room with a view on the upstairs level.
Paul MacDonald, a veteran of a.bar, is running the cocktail program with an creative cocktail list that includes inventive drinks like the Safe Space (gin, lemon, pear, clove and olive oil, with a brûléed egg white on top) alongside a small selection of wines and beers. The dinner menu is tightly organized and is focused on a New American style with European influences, ranging from beef tartare to lobster bucatini.Stop in at Friday Saturday Sunday today to experience a classic Philadelphia restaurant reimagined for the city’s modern culinary scene.
