Warm Up at These Philadelphia Bars with Fireplaces

by Jessie Donofrio on Jan 3, 2017 in Roundups
Well, the time has come—winter is officially here. With that comes hot cocktails, dark beers, wool socks, snow and the need to stay warm and dry. The perfect place to beat the cold is warming up at your favorite local spot by the fireplace with a drink in hand.

Check out Fairmount’s comfortable Irish bar with Italian-inspired food to eat some gnocchi and warm up by the fireplace. (726 N 24th St.; 215-232-3232)

Head to this cozy southern-inspired Northern Liberties spot for whiskey cocktails and delicious food. Visit during happy hour and you’ll get $5 Old Fashioneds and Whiskey Sours. (705 N 2nd St.; 215-238-0660)

Brauhaus Schmitz
There's nothing better than a stein of beer and a plate of schnitzel during the cold months to warm you from the inside, especially if enjoyed fireside. (718 South St.; 267-909-8814)

Devil’s Den
This South Philly gastropub has plenty of craft beers and hot cocktails like their spiked apple cider to stay nice and toasty by their wood-burning fireplace. (1148-1150 S. 11th St.; 215-339-0855)

Locally sourced, fresh cuisine awaits at this University City spot along with fireplaces on both levels of the restaurant. Head there every night of the week for food and drink specials, and fun like quizzo on Wednesday nights. (200 S 40th St.; 215-662-1100)

Philadelphia’s longest running bar touts a fireplace as well as daily specials on pitchers of brew. (1310  Drury St.; 215- 735-5562)

Visit this Stephen Starr spot for delicious British cuisine and crafted cocktails like the hot chai cider. This isn’t the only Starr Restaurant with a fireplace - there’s also Jones, Continental Midtown and Frankford Hall. (124 S 18th St.; 215-558-2500)

Twisted Tail
Enjoy the warmth of two fireplaces at this Society Hill spot. The bi-level bar offers a great whiskey selection as well as live music and shuffleboard. (509 S. 2nd St.; 215-558-2471)

What’s better than warming up by a fire pit after a nice skate? Warming up along with some Jose Garces grub, Chickie’s and Pete’s Crab Fries and a build your own spiked hot chocolate—all of which you can get at the lodge. (101 S Christopher Columbus Blvd.; 215-925-7465)
