Second District Brewery is Now Open in South Philly
Second District Brewing is the latest brewery to open in Philly. The brewery and restaurant is located in an old garage just a block north of Snyder Avenue and around the corner from South Philly Tap Room on 1939 S Bancroft St.
The location makes sense, since SPTR’s John Longacre (also of American Sardine Bar) and Curt Decker, the owner of the now-closed Nodding Head Brewery, are fronting this project. They also have Brewer Ben Potts on board with a resume that includes Dock Street, Dogfish Head and Tired Hands.
Second District offers eight beers on tap starting from its opening which is targeted in February. Decker told Philly.com that the menu will be “Fun, smart, tight beer food.”
