The Sixth Annual Philly Bierfest Celebrates the Rich History of Brewing German-Style Beers in Pennsylvania, February 25

On Saturday, February 25 from 2 PM - 5:30 PM, the German Society of Philadelphia will host Philly Bierfest 2017, a huge celebration of the history of German beers in the City of Brotherly Love.

Bierfest is a longtime favorite event of Philly beer lovers and this year will be no different, as it will feature plenty of live entertainment (such as Roller Derby Arm Wrestling and Berlin-Style Beerlesque), a huge assortment of German beers from pilsners to bocks, and several new features. The 2017 festival will feature the Edgar Allan Poe Cheese Cave & PA Cider Bar (featuring local cheese and cider pairings), Adventures in Extra-Sensory Beerception with Les the Mentalist and Evil Genius Brewing Co. (where Les the Mentalist will entertain and amaze alongside a new surprise beer from Evil Genius), the Winter Wunderbar Alpine Firepit and Marshmallow Roast (which includes a giant Jenga and one of the only pieces of the Berlin Wall in the United States), and the usual panels with beer experts like Lew Bryson.

Participating breweries include 2nd Story Brewing Co., Brewery Techne / Bar Hygge, Free Will Brewing Co., Gunpowder Falls Brewing Co., Penn Brewery, Philadelphia Brewing Co., Round Guys Brewing Co., Roy-Pitz Brewing Co., Samuel Adams, St. Benjamin Brewing Co., Sly Fox Brewing Co., Stoudts Brewing Co., Susquehanna Brewing Co., Tröegs Brewing Co., Victory Brewing Co., Weyerbacher Brewing Co., Yards Brewing Co., ZeroDay Brewing Co., and Yuengling & Sons Brewery, alongside a number of local Pennsylvania cideries like Kurant Cider and Commonwealth Cider.

Of course, there will be an enormous variety of German beers on hand, and those will include Ayinger, Benediktiner, Bitburger, Dinkelacker, Flensburger, Früh, Gaffel, Grevensteiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu Munich, Jever, Kapuziner, König Ludwig, Köstritzer, Kulmbacher, Monchshof, Paulaner, Pinkus-Müller, Radeberger, Schöfferhofer, Stiegl, Veltins, Warsteiner, Weihenstephaner, and Weltenburger Kloster.
