The 2017 PHS Pop Up Beer Garden Locations Have Been Announced

Beer garden season is upon us!

This week, it was announced that the 2017 PHS Pop Up Beer Gardens will be located at 15th and South Streets (the flagship) and uCity Square on 36th and Filbert Streets.

The uCity Square location is new this year. It will be operated by sister restaurants Café Ynez, Jet Wine Bar and Rex 1516 in partnership with Drexel University. According to their Instagram page, we have lots of Tex-Mex food, beer, wine and frozen drinks to look forward to at this spot.

The new beer garden will feature drink specials from Monday through Thursday from 5 PM - 7 PM. They are paired with Corona and Modelo Especial so expect lots of drink specials from those brands. Other details and the opening date for this new location haven’t been set, so check back for more info.

The flagship location at 15th and South will return on May 5, almost a month earlier than last year, with Cantina Los Caballitos at the helm.

According to the PHS site, “The PHS Pop Up Garden flagship location at South Street promises a festive menu, craft brews and specialty cocktails, games and live music … not to mention an entirely new garden design with modern-eclectic furnishings and a bright floral palette.”

The bar menu at the flagship will feature an expanded margarita selection as well as mint juleps, mojitos and sangria.  Favorites from last year like the “Woodermelon” (Titos and fresh pressed watermelon) and the Bartram (Hendricks with cucumber and lime juice) will also be served. The can selection at this year’s garden will be larger and tap lines will be dedicated to both local and national craft brews.

Special event series like Brewsday Tuesday will take place at the garden where breweries will visit with some rare and popular beers for guests to sample while enjoying live music. Some of May’s guest brewers include Oskar Blues (May 9), Boulevard, Ommegang and Duvel (May 23, sour happy hour) and Lagunitas. Other events include a guest chef series on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. Expect the likes of DiBruno Brothers, Federal Donuts, Royal Tavern, Hungry Pigeon, and La Divisa Meats to stop by.

The food menu includes burrito bowls, Mexican street corn, Jicama and watermelon salad, quesadillas, black bean hummus, and Mexican hot dogs.

Hours for both beer gardens are: Monday through Thursday 5-10 PM, Friday and Saturday 2 PM-12 AM, and Sunday 12-10 PM.
