Where to Take Your Mom for Mother's Day 2017 in Philadelphia

by Jessie Donofrio on May 9, 2017 in Roundups

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 14 and there’s no better way to show Mom you care than by treating her to a delicious brunch—and buying her a few cocktails, of course. Here are the best restaurants serving up brunch for mom on her special day. Make sure to make a reservation!

Leave the flowers at home, because from 10 AM- 3 PM you can eat and drink the beautiful, oft gifted objects at Bainbridge Street Barrel House. Treat your mom to a mom-mosa (sparkling champagne and fresh orange juice topped with St. Germain elder flower liqueur) or a Belgian waffle topped with rose water ice cream. Other menu additions include chicken and biscuit waffles, banana pudding stuffed French toast and omelets. (625 S 6th St.)

Stop by Cinder for their newly debuted brunch. Enjoy specials like s’mores oatmeal, French toast shooters, breakfast burger, croque madame pizza, chicken and biscuits, shrimp and grits and more! (1500 Locust St.)

Visit this Center City, Northern Italian restaurant from 11 AM-3 PM for a selection of Mother’s Day Specials in addition to their normal a la carte brunch menu. Additions include crab cake benedict, Kennett Square frittata, Maine lobster frittata, and filet mignon with poached eggs, home fries and truffle hollandaise. (111 S 17th St.)

A complimentary glass of champagne awaits Mom at Fine Palate this Mother’s Day. Brunch specials include fried oysters, eggs in hell, omelet with gruyere cheese, coconut French toast, soft scrambled eggs with black truffles, buffalo tartare and more. (231 S 15th St.)

For $35 each, guests can enjoy an unlimited, upscale buffet experience at this Old City Southern restaurant. Buffet selections include prime rib, eggs benedict, buffalo chicken and biscuits, red velvet French toast, mini quiche, sticky buns, and a selection of sweets. The bar is serving a special cocktail as well—a blood orange granita—made with frozen blood orange shrub (blood orange, water, sugar, and apple cider vinegar), lime juice, and El Jimador  tequila garnished with a blood orange slice. Brunch hours are 8 AM-4 PM, bar opens at 10 AM. (243 Chestnut St.)

Grab mom a signature Bloody Mary served with jumbo shrimp or a blood orange mimosa to begin her day at Ocean Prime. Savor other dishes like French toast, served with mixed fresh berries, lemon curd, candied bacon and maple syrup; crab and eggs, served with an English muffin, crab cakes, poached eggs, hollandaise, fresh fruit, mixed greens with a balsamic vinaigrette; and Braised Short Rib Surf & Turf, served with crispy gouda potato cake, lobster claw, poached egg and hollandaise. (125 S 15th St.)

Celebrate Mom with an Italian brunch at Marc Vetri’s Osteria. Menu selections include buttermilk “piadina” pancakes with blueberry and elderflower conserva and mascarpone; lobster and eggs with dill, chives and whipped lemon ricotta; eggs in purgatory served over charred polenta; and an abundance of pizzas, antipasti and more! Brunch hours are 10:30 AM- 2:30 PM. (640 N Broad St.)

Is your mother a wine lover? Take her to Panorama for their amazing wine selection to pair with brunch. They’ll be serving a $45 3-course, prix-fixe brunch menu with items like lobster bisque, burrata, panettone French toast, veal flank steak and eggs, crab benedict and more. Desserts include tiramisu budino, zabaglione (Italian custard), cinnamon-sugar donuts, and flourless chocolate cake. Brunch hours are 11 AM-3 PM. (14 N Front St.)

Dine 500 feet above the city at R2L’s Mother’s Day brunch. For $75 enjoy a buffet-style first course, a choice of main course and a family-style dessert. The appetizer buffet includes salads, a raw bar, crostini, pastries, fresh fruit, charcuterie, cheeses, dips and more. Main course options include lobster tail, veal tenderloin, eggs benedict, poached salmon and other brunch classics. The sharable dessert plate includes pineapple upside-down cake, mango cheesecake, chocolate praline mousse, strawberry pavlova, and earl grey chocolate cake. Brunch is served 11 AM-2 PM. (50 S 16th St.)

Get your brunch on 50 floors above Philly at SkyBrunch. Enjoy their classic buffet options that include prime rib, an omelet station, cereals, pastries, smoked salmon, and many more items. Caesar and other salads are served a la mason jar table side along with shrimp cocktail and other desserts. (1717 Arch St.)

Listen to the sounds of jazz while brunching at South on Mother’s Day. They’ll be offering a 3-course, prix-fixe dinner with options like pimento cheese toast, chicken and turkey andouille gumbo, chocolate bread pudding French toast, shimp and grits, and blackened salmon. Desserts include lemon meringue tartlet, chocolate pecan pie, banana pudding cheesecake and strawberry rhubarb cobbler. Brunch in the jazz parlor costs $34.95 per person with seatings at 11:30 AM, 12 PM, 1:30 PM and 2 PM. Brunch in the dining hall costs $29.95 per person and will have seatings at 10:30 AM, 11 AM, 12:30 PM, and 1 PM. (600 N Broad St.)

Take your mom on a beautiful Mother’s Day brunch cruise aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia. The brunch buffet includes breakfast favorites like pastries, fruits, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats as well as Mediterranean couscous, baked ziti, oven baked cod, and prime rib. The cruise is from 10 AM- 12 PM and tickets are $59.90. (401 S Columbus Blvd.)
