A Booze-Infused Ice Cream Shop Just Opened in NYC

by Jessie Donofrio on May 17, 2017 in Liquor

Ah, the Big Apple, always providing the rest of the country with great art, culture, theater and now—perhaps the best innovation to date—the ice cream BAR-lour!

Tipsy Scoop is a booze-infused ice cream parlor that opened in NYC earlier this month by Melissa Tavvs, who has a family history of ice cream making and previously was a PR rep for liquor brands. An excerpt from their site describes them as, “blending the magic of an artisanal, hand crafted ice cream with the mastery of a handcrafted cocktail.”

Popular flavors include strawberry sangria sorbet, red velvet martini, mango margarita and tequila Mexican "hot" chocolate, and all have up to a 5% ABV. You can get your boozy churned goodness via flights of chocolate rimmed shot glasses, in cones, or in ice cream sandwiches.

Tipsy Scoop has officially been around since 2014 with Tavvs previously operating the boozy ice cream business only as a wholesaler and catering company. For our readers outside of NYC, this means you’re in luck, because you can purchase the ice cream online or get it at one of the retailers that carry it. If you’re lucky enough to check out the parlor in person, it’s located at 217 East 26th Street in Manhattan.
