Bok Bar is back for its third season, bringing Asian-style bites and great views to South Philly bar-goers. The spot, housed atop the former Bok Technical High School building at 1901 S 9th St., officially opens on Thursday, May 25.
The food service will be different this year, as Bok’s owner
Lindsey Scannapieco has hired
Hayden Mink to head food service via the moniker
Humble Dumplings. The food menu is very simple—but sounds delicious—with items such as pork and cabbage or veggie dumplings, rice bowls with egg, sesame seed, pork belly and scallion; and scallion pancake tacos filled with pork belly, hoisin and pickles.
The rooftop bar will also host to a ton of pop-up dinners throughout the summer.
Philly Mag reports that so far, one dinner that’s planned will feature
Noord’s Joncarl Lachman,
Fond’s Lee Styer, and
Farm & Fisherman’s Josh Lawler. Scannapieco told the magazine it will be “a Nordic feast featuring aquavit, lots of fish and salad, a maypole and flower crowns.”
The bar will be open to the 21+ crowd Wednesdays from 5 PM-11 PM, Thursdays from 5 PM-12 AM, Fridays from 5 PM-1AM and Saturdays from 6 PM-1 AM. They are also open to all ages (and dogs!) on Sundays from 12 PM-10 PM.
