Fishtown Brewpub is Now Open

Fishtown is being graced with yet another brewpub and restaurant, Fishtown Brewpub, which is now open at 1101 Frankford Ave., just below Girard.

Brewpub owner Jack Lyons tapped Steven D’Eva, previously of Brotherton Brewery and a former chef at Tired Hands, as their brewmaster. D’Eva’s house-brewed beers will include an ESB, a saison brewed with elderflower, honeysuckle and other aromatics, a new-American hoppy session ale, and a pale ale brewed as a collaboration with Doylestown Brewing. All for $6.

They’ll also have some outside brews on draft as well from PA locals like Victory, 2SP, Tröegs, Slyfox and Highway Manor and from farther away brewers like Fat Head’s, Allagash and Sixpoint. Additionally, they have the very trendy Truly spiked seltzer brand bottles on hand as well as Coors, Yuengling, Jack’s Original Cider and other big-name brews.

As far as wines go, Fishtown Brewpub will have a nice selection of whites, reds, sparkling and even rosé by the glass for patrons to enjoy. Moreover, they have a house cocktail list, which consists of nuanced takes on classic drinks. The selections include the “Northern Lights” ($13) with gin, St. Germain, lemon juice, honey-pear and rosemary shrub, orange bitters, tonic and garnished with fresh rosemary and “The Burnt Flamingo” ($13) made with house-infused charred grapefruit and pink peppercorn tequila, lime, grapefruit juice, agave, club soda with a smoked salt rim.

Their unique American comfort menu includes snacks like beef tendon chicharrones, a foie gras “uncrustable,” and corn on the cob with miso butter and togarashi. Small plates include nachos, sriracha buffalo wings, soft-shell crab, house-made fish sticks with kimchi ketchup, and “South Philly” beef tar tar served with provolone. Large plates include a classic burger, beef cheek pierogis, grilled hanger steak, mussels in a dijon beer broth, a knockwurst sandwich served with sauerkraut, and IPA mustard a potato roll. Last but not least, desserts include chocolate torte, malted panna cotta, and sorbet.

Brunch-fans rejoice, because the brewpub will also begin weekend brunch service on Saturday, August 5. Dishes include smaltz corncakes, chilaquiles, cured salmon, avocado toast, and more.

House brews won't be ready for the opening, but keep an eye out on their social media for an announcement soon. Fishtown brewpub will be open Tuesday through Friday 4 PM-2 AM and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 2 AM.
