Philly's Best Happy Hours: Ela's 1/2 Priced Wine Bottles & More
Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.
For this week's installment, we're focusing on Jason Cichonski's Queen Village mainstay Ela, which, in addition to a great happy hour every weekday, offers a number of great deals on its excellent wine list and innovative menu. The specials run from Sunday through Thursday from 5 PM - 7 PM alongside a late night happy hour on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which runs from 10 PM - 12 AM.
Their weekday happy hour serves up classic post-work deals like $5 glasses of wine, from bubbly to rosé to white to red, with offerings changing from time to time. $3 drafts, bottles and cans are also available, with beers from local breweries like Victory Brewing Co., Sly Fox & Tröegs alongside selections from Michigan's Bells and California's Speakeasy breweries.
If you're looking for a cocktail, they also offer two cocktails daily - the She's a Rainbow ($4), a Kir-style drink made with white wine, rhubarb and hibiscus, or the daily bartender's choice for $6.
Food selections for happy hour include a number of inventive snacks like crispy gnocchi "tots" served with a black truffle dip ($6), "cheetos" with an aged cheddar powder ($5), the Ela burger with cabot cheddar and shittake mushrooms served on a black sesame bun ($14), chef's choice tacos of the day ($11), and more.
These aren't the only deals Ela offers - Mondays through Wednesdays, you can score 3 courses for $30 and a half-priced bottle of wine — and with bottles ranging from $40 to $150, this is definitely a deal you won't want to pass up.
Head down to Queen Village and grab a bar seat at Ela for anything from a $5 glass of brut to a full meal for just $30, since there's no shortage of deals here.
