Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.

This week, we're choosing to higlight Fette Sau, Stephen Starr's backyard BBQ place tucked right next to Frankford Hall in Fishtown. A Brooklyn transplant that was a collaboration between Starr and chef Joe Carroll, people flock to Fette Sau for excellent barbecue, a widespread whiskey selection, and cozy outdoor seating complete with picnic tables.

The happy hour at Fette Sau, which takes place Monday-Friday from 5 PM — 7 PM, has long been lauded for its amazing drink prices — notably, their $5 Manhattans and $5 Old Fashioneds, which is one of the best cocktail deals in town.

Aside from those, they offer half-priced beers, but don't forget about the food, since Fette Sau is known for its flavorful, authentic BBQ.

During happy hour, you can find deals like $4 smoked chicken legs, $3 smoked deviled eggs, and $5 "burnt end sandwiches," which are comprised of ends cut off of other barbecue cuts and mixed together to create a delicious potpourri of smoked meats. 

Fette Sau isn't just a warm-weather destination, despite its relaxing backyard-style seating — so stop in any season and grab happy hour specials anywhere in the restaurant that are just too good to pass up.
