Philly's Best Happy Hours: Vedge's $7 Wines & Cocktails, $4 Beers, and $6 Bar Snacks

Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.

This week, we're highlighting Vedge, Rich Landau & Kate Jacoby's upscale plant-based spot in the heart of Midtown Village. Every vegan's dream, Vedge features highly inventive and entirely meat and dairy free dishes as well as cocktails. Boasting one of the best wine lists in town to boot, this self-described "vegetable restaurant" has attracted national acclaim and has solidified itself as one of the best vegan restaurants in not just Philadelphia, but perhaps the country.

Much like the rest of Vedge's offerings, the happy hour menu is deceptively simple, creative, and delicious, and takes place Monday through Friday from 5 PM - 7 PM, only at the bar. Two wines are offered at $7 each alongside $4 beers, and both categories rotate based on seasonal availability. Two cocktails are priced at $7 as well, with selections like the Pepino (tequila, cointreau, cucumber, lime).

As for food, Vedge's bar snacks are unique in that they are only available for happy hour and do not feature on the full-length dinner menu — so if you want to really try everything on their menu, you'll have to stop in and try dishes like potato salad with green curry, shaved brussels sprouts with mustard, French onion paté, or garden crudite with fennel aioli.

"What's great about our happy hour special is you've got multiple choices of cocktails, beer and wine," says Derek Moorer, one of Vedge's bartenders, "and the food is completely exclusive to the bar during happy hour."

Recognized as one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia, Vedge may seem like a special occasion spot, but don't overlook its happy hour — so stop in, grab a spot at the bar, and try out some of Philly's best vegan food without breaking the bank.
