Philly Wine Week is Hosting Benefits & Fundraisers to Support California Wildfire Relief, November 6-12

by Drink Philly on Nov 1, 2017 in Wine

To raise money for California wildfire relief, Philly Wine Week is hosting benefits and fundraisers in conjunction with the Winemakers & Sommeliers for California Wildfire Relief (WSCWR).

The big event, a benefit evening held in partnership with WSCWR, Philly Wine Week, and Drexel University, will take place on Wednesday, November 8 from 6 PM - 9 PM at the Drexel University Center for Food and Hospitality Management. Walnut Street Cafe's Patrick Cappiello, alongside friends Pax Mahle and Sara Morgenstern, created the WSCWR, and are working to host similar events throughout the country. At this one, guests can enjoy a variety of California wines, small bites from local chefs, and one-on-one conversations with Cappiello and other wine experts. Proceeds from the event will go to CA Wine Strong, Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief, and the Napa Valley Community Foundation to support wine country recently ravaged by wildfires, and 100% of the profit from the $50 tickets (which can be purchased here) will be donated.

Additionally, from November 6 through November 12, Philly Wine Week will host a series of smaller events to support the WSCWR, like dinners, by-the-glass offerings, and happy hours. Check their website and social media channels (look for the hashtag #PhillyLovesCali) for updates on those events as they become available.

Vetri Family events include:
-Amis Trattoria and Osteria Philly will donate $5 for each bottle sold from a select California wine list
-Bar Amis will donate $1 for every glass sold and $5 for each bottle sold from a select California wine list
-All Pizzeria Vetri locations will donate $1 for each glass sold of Collier Creek Chardonnay and Silver Stone Cabernet Sauvignon
-Alla Spina Philly will donate $1 for each glass sold of Bleecker Chardonnay and Bacchus Pinot Noir
100% of proceeds will go to Winemakers & Sommeliers for California Wildfire Relief (WSCWR).

Panorama events include:
-Order a California wine flight, and Panorama donates $10
-Purchase a $10 raffle ticket for a chance to win an "Old Vine" California Zinfandel ($95 value). Winner will be chosen at November 11th Wine Social
-Pay-as-you-wish Wine Social from 3pm to 5pm on Friday, November 11 ($45 value)
All proceeds raised will be donated to the Napa Valley Community Foundation.

California's vineyards may be heavily damaged, but you can help — so make it out to any one of the events and do your part for West Coast wines.
