Move over, cat cafés - Fido’s, in Tigard, Oregon, is the world’s first dog tap room, KGW reports.

 

One part pub, one part dog shelter, Fido’s has a full dinner menu and forty taps, and a rotating group of foster dogs to visit with and adopt. The dogs are provided by Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals, according to the Willamette Week, and Fido’s also makes a sizeable donation to the organization. The whole building is a shrine to pooches, with TVs playing videos of dogs rather than sports (except for the really big games), and portraits of pups instead of beer or liquor signs.

 

It’s not exactly the same as a cat cafe, as drinks and food are prohibited in the play room to avoid stressing out the dogs and spilling anything. However there’s a window with a bar that overlooks the room, so guests can imbibe with a show. And don’t plan on leaving with a pooch in hand after a few beers: the adoption process is the same as any shelter, taking up to a few days and some paperwork. But for those looking to do so, or those who just want to watch some puppies play while they drink a local beer, Fido’s looks like a lot of fun.
