Outdoor drinking season is here! Last week, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society announced that the 2018 PHS Pop Up Beer Gardens will debut on Thursday, April 26. This year’s locations will be the same as last at 15th and South Streets (the flagship) and uCity Square on 36th and Filbert Streets.

The uCity Square location It will be operated by the crew behind Jose Pistola’s, so expect Mexican cuisine, craft beer and lots of margs.  The flagship location at 15th and South will be run by the team behind Royal Tavern, who will feature lots of delicious food and botanical inspired drinks. Both locations will have Cinco de Mayo grand opening festivities planned the weekend of Thursday, May 3-Sunday, May 6.

The PHS website describes the ambiance at the South Street location as: “At night, the garden will be illuminated by Moroccan-style fixtures, twinkling lights strung through the Mulberry tree, and a variety of plants that will “glow” in the dark. Crawling dichondra, flowering plants, and rustic structures will create unique garden “rooms” that welcome visitors of all ages.”

Hours for both beer gardens are: Monday through Thursday 5-10 PM, Friday 5 PM-12 AM, Saturday 2 PM-12 AM and Sunday 12-10 PM.
