Get to know what’s in your glass down to every particle at the 2018 Philly Science Festival, taking place this year from Friday, April 20 to Saturday, April 28. We’ve rounded up the best, which also happen to be the booziest, events of the festival so you can nerd out with a drink in hand all week long!
 
Sunday, April 22
Beer Brunch: FIZZics Class, 11:30 AM-1:30 PM
Yards Brewing Co
Discover the science behind all that foam in your beer with an afternoon of tasting and testing. Tickets are $40 and include a class presented by the University of the Sciences, light brunch and beer samples. Purchase tickets online here. (500 Spring Garden St.)
 
Sunday, April 22
Barcade, Fette Sau, Frankford Hall, Front Street Café, Garage Fishtown, Kensington Quarters, La Colombe
Geek out at this science-filled bar crawl at some of Fishtown’s best spots along Frankford Avenue. The crawl will include drink specials, activities, scientific demonstrations and even more fun! Wristbands are $5 and include access to special drink deals. Purchase your wristband here. (1210 Frankford Ave.)
 
Monday, April 23
Science On Tap, 6 PM-8 PM
National Mechanics
Head to Old City to learn lessons and hear stories directly from six scientists. Guests will have the chance to rate the best stories, question their hypotheses and also enjoy some drinks. Best of all, the event is free. (22 S 3rd St.)
 
Monday, April 23
Drexel Bistro
Learn about sustainability as it pertains to sensory, nutritional and culinary aspects of food. Tickets are $35 and include a wine pairing and “scientifically delicious” tasting menu of sustainable cuisine made by Drexel students and faculty. Purchase tickets here. (101 N 33rd St.)
 
Wednesday, April 25
Frankford Hall
Hear the stories that ignited local scientists’ passions for their professions at this story slam. Tickets are $5 at the door. (1210 Frankford Ave.)
 
Thursday, April 26
Reading Terminal Market
Go on a scientific adventure at this rare nighttime event at Reading Terminal Market. Guests will partake in a scavenger hunt that takes them through food science demonstrations, hands on activities and experiments. Tickets are $20 when purchased in advance here. Select merchants will be serving up $5 cash only bites. (51 N 12th St.)
 
Saturday, April 28
Science Carnival, 10 AM-4 PM
Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Say farewell to this year's festival with a free, all-day science carnival on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway! Enjoy science demos, experiments, games, entertainment and a full day of fun. (222 N 20th St.)
