What To Do This Memorial Day Weekend in Philadelphia

Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 28 this year, and as everyone knows, an added day to the weekend means additional opportunities for fun. We’ve rounded up the best events going on in Philadelphia this weekend, so skip the shore and soak up the sun with a cold beer in hand in our beautiful city.

Wednesday, May 23 through Monday, May 28
FDR Park
Philadelphia’s traveling beer garden has returned, and for the last week of May it will be at FDR Park in South Philly. Sip on local drafts like Saint Benjamin’s Parks Pale Ale and cocktails like mango margaritas along with sandwiches and snacks all weekend long. Hours are Wednesday & Thursday 5 PM-10 PM, Friday 4 PM-11 PM, Saturday 1 PM-11 PM, and Sunday & Monday 12 PM-10 PM. (Broad & Pattison Streets)

Thursday, May 24 through Monday, May 28
Back for its fourth season, visit this waterfront roller rink for skating, mini-golf, lawn games, arcades, and rides including a 60 foot Ferris wheel. Summer food like crab legs and shrimp are provided by Chickie’s and Pete’s along with local drafts and cocktails like watermelon mojitos. Visit Summerfest’s website for hours and pricing. (101 S Christopher Columbus Blvd.)

Thursday, May 24 through Monday, May 28
Penn’s Landing
It’s going to be a party on the waterfront all weekend long as some magnificent tall ships dock on the Delaware. Revelers can choose a ship tour or even a cruise package that comes with entrance to a waterfront festival and the Independence Seaport Museum. Visit on Saturday evening at 7:30 PM for a special free performance by the US Air Force Band followed by a fireworks show at 9 PM. Go to this link for tickets and more info. (101 S Christopher Columbus Blvd.)

Friday, May 25 through Sunday, May 27
Citizens Bank Park
Catch a ball game at Citizens Bank Park this holiday weekend. The Phillies are playing the Blue Jays on Friday at 7:05 PM, on Saturday at 4:05 PM and Sunday at 1:35 PM. Check out our roundup of game day specials to enjoy if you can’t make it out to the park. (1 Citizens Bank Park Way)

Saturday, May 26
This waterfront spot is a great spot to drink all summer long, but on Saturday evening, make sure you grab a colbeer, snag a prime spot and settle in for the free show - at 7:30 PM, the United States Air Force will perform an airshow, followed by fireworks at 9 PM.

Saturday May 26 through Monday, May 28
Chaddsford Winery
The unofficial start to the summer means a weekend-long music festival at this Philadelphia suburban winery. Each day will feature a different band and food trucks will be on site to provide snacks. Best of all, the event is free to enter. (632 Baltimore Pike)

Saturday, May 26
Festival Pier
Hall and Oates are headlining concert that celebrates Philadelphia food and culture for its second year now. Other festival acts include Train, Fitz and the Tantrums, Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives and more.
