Spirit of Philadelphia New Years Eve 2018

Where to Celebrate Labor Day 2018 in Philadelphia

Another summer flew by — lots of drinks were enjoyed and memories made, but the fun isn’t over yet! There’s one more unofficial weekend of summer left before the pumpkin beers are back on tap and the kids are back to school. It’s Labor Day Weekend here in Philadelphia, meaning it’s time to enjoy a drink and soak up the sun until football season starts.

Wednesday, August 29 through Monday, September 3
Parks on Tap
Catch this traveling beer garden at Clark Park in West Philly throughout Labor Day Weekend. Sip on local drafts from Evil Genius and Sly Fox and cocktails like a "whiskey root beer" along with sandwiches and snacks all weekend long. Hours are Wednesday & Thursday 5 PM-10 PM, Friday 4 PM-11 PM, Saturday 1 PM-11 PM, and Sunday & Monday 12 PM-10 PM. (4398 Chester Ave.)

Through Monday, September 3
Blue Cross RiverRink SummerFest
Lace up your roller skates, because it’s the last weekend of the RiverRink Summerfest! As well as skating, you can check out the new carnival rides, imbibe at the Chickie’s & Pete’s Waterfront Crabshack, play some mini golf, and hang out at the lodge.  Visit Summerfest’s website for hours and pricing. (101 S Columbus Blvd.)

Friday, August 31 & Saturday, September 1
The Independence Seaport Museum is opening their pop-up beer garden this weekend in honor of Labor Day. Bask in some great views of the river, have a few drinks, eat some food, and watch the fireworks on Saturday. Hours are Friday 3 PM-11 PM with fireworks happening around 9:30 PM. (211 S Columbus Blvd.)

Friday, August 31 through Sunday, September 2
Citizens Bank Park
Catch a ball game at Citizens Bank Park this holiday weekend. The Phillies are playing the Cubs on Friday at 7:05 PM, Saturday at 7:05 PM and Sunday at 1:35 PM. Check out our roundup of game day specials to enjoy if you can’t make it out to the park. (1 Citizens Bank Park Way)

Saturday, September 1
Come see the Temple Owl’s face off against their suburban neighbors Villanova at Temple’s home opener at the Linc. Game starts at 12 PM, purchase tickets here. (1 Lincoln Financial Way)

Saturday, September 1 through Sunday, September 2
Made in America Festival
Back for its 7th year, Jay Z’s music festival will be taking over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway this weekend. Musical performers include Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Meek Mill, Diplo, Miguel, Janelle Monae, Alessia Cara and many more. Two day passes are still on sale. (Benjamin Franklin Parkway)

Saturday, September 1 through Monday, September 3
146th Labor Day Volksfest
Visit Northeast Philly this weekend for the longest running German volksfest in the US. The Cannstatter will be hosting this huge party equipped with three full days of German beer and wine, traditional German food, crafts, amusement rides, music and more! Tickets are $6 for one day, $9 for two days, and $11 for all three. Saturday and Sunday the festival runs from 12 PM-10 PM and Monday it goes from 12 PM-8 PM. (9130 Academy Road)

All Weekend
Rooftop Bars
What’s better than spending your Labor Day Weekend cocktail in hand with incredible views of the city? Head to one of Philly’s awesome rooftop bars such as Bok Bar or Stratus Lounge for just that. Didn’t get tickets to Made in America? Swing by Assembly Rooftop Lounge or SkyGarten for incredible views of the parkway - you may even hear a tune or two from up there.
