Philly's Best Happy Hours: Royal Boucherie's Half-Priced Bar Snacks, $7 Wines, & $7 Cocktails
Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.
This time, we're highlighting Old City's favorite French spot, Royal Boucherie. With Chef Nick Elmi at the helm, this stylish bistro has quickly become a neighborhood staple, with its dark, sultry bar, outdoor roof space for warmer months, and perfectly executed dishes, from charcuterie to housemade pastas.
The restaurant introduced its first happy hour in the winter of 2018 — from Monday through Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the bar, at the booths, and at the tables at the front of the dining room, you can enjoy great deals on Royal's bar snacks, French wines, and more.
Between $4 draft beers, $7 glasses of red and white wine, and $7 glasses of prosecco on draft, you'll certainly have plenty to choose from, but if you're more of a cocktail fan, you're in for a real treat. Every day, the bar will offer a $7 Bartender's Choice cocktail, ranging from classics to entirely new creations.
If you're feeling hungry, try some of Royal's signature bar snacks, like their pork-stuffed fried olives or the chicken liver toast. Everything on the "snacks" section of the menu is half priced during happy hour (with one exception: the signature sourdough boule, which, at just $3, is already plenty affordable).
"The really cool thing about our happy hour with the rotating cocktail is that it allows each of our bartenders to create and express their personality in their cocktail," says Zeq Rudy, Royal's head bartender. "Since it rotates between each member of the staff, some go with classics, and some are coming up with a brand new drink on the fly."
Next time you're in Old City during happy hour, take a seat at Royal's cozy bar, grab a prosecco on tap, and pair it with some fried olives, for a perfect (and affordable) end to your workday and start to your evening.
