The Eighth Annual Philly Bierfest Celebrates the Rich History of Brewing German-Style Beers in Pennsylvania, February 23

On Saturday, February 23 from 2 PM - 5:30 PM, the German Society of Philadelphia will host Philly Bierfest 2019, the eighth celebration of the history of German beers in the City of Brotherly Love, which will be presented in conjunction with the female athletes of Philly Roller Derby and the Brewers of Pennsylvania.

Bierfest is a longtime favorite event of Philly beer lovers and this year will be no different, as it will feature plenty of live entertainment (such as Roller Derby Arm Wrestling and Berlin-Style Beerlesque), a huge assortment of German beers from pilsners to bocks, and more. The 2019 festival will once again feature the Edgar Allan Poe Cheese Cave & PA Cider Bar (featuring local cheese and cider pairings) once again as well alongside talks from experts Lew Bryson and Marnie Old on beer and wine, respectively.

Participating breweries include 2nd Story Brewing Co., Free Will Brewing Co., Gunpowder Falls Brewing Co., Lion Brewery, Love City Brewing Co.,Nodding Head Brewery, Penn Brewery, Round Guys Brewing Co., Roy-Pitz Brewing Co., Samuel Adams, St. Benjamin Brewing Co., Sly Fox Brewing Co., Stoudts Brewing Co., Susquehanna Brewing Co., Tröegs Brewing Co., Victory Brewing Co., Yards Brewing Co., ZeroDay Brewing Co., and Yuengling & Sons Brewery.

Of course, there will be an enormous variety of German beers on hand, and those will include
Ayinger, Bitburger, Hacker-Pschorr, König Ludwig,
Paulaner, Pinkus, Radeberger, Schöfferhofer, Warsteiner, Weihenstephaner,

and more.

Tickets are available now and begin at $49 for general admission. If you want the full experience, go for the VIP ticket for $69 for 1 PM entrance time and a keepsake mug, or $79 for the VIP Plus ticket (all of the above plus a German beer seminar at noon). There's also a $25 "beer-less" ticket in case you're driving or just not drinking that day, but still want to enjoy this traditional festival. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate Philadelphia’s German beer heritage and try everything this festival has to offer!
