Philly's Best Happy Hours: Scarpetta's $7 Cocktails and $7 Small Bites
Welcome to Philly’s Best Happy Hours, a feature highlighting great happy hours in different neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Since Drink Philly started out as a place to find happy hours in the city, we thought it was only right to return to our roots and turn the spotlight on some of Philly’s absolute best happy hour deals.
This week, we spotlighted Scarpetta, a New York transplant housed in the luxurious Rittenhouse Hotel just off the park. A modern Italian concept, Scarpetta's stylish, dark bar is the perfect spot to grab a great glass of Italian wine and a bowl of perfect pasta, and you can also book a dinner reservation in its gorgeous upstairs dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Rittenhouse Square.
Scarpetta's happy hour, which is available in the entire first floor bar, runs a full three hours from 4 PM - 7 PM every Monday through Friday, and features great prices on several cocktails as well as an extensive food menu.
The happy hour menu has no shortage of signature drinks, and all of them cost $7 — if you're looking for something light and refreshing, try their seasonal bellini or the Italian Ice, made with limoncello, vodka, and San Pellegrino Limonata.
Tequila fans will love the Pompeii, made with basil & grapefruit infused tequila, spicy simple syrup, and aranciata rossa, and if you're a bourbon lover, try the Thymeless, made with blackberry infused bourbon, lemon, and thyme simple syrup.
The menu also features the innovative Vespa (with apricot-infused Tuaca and Aperol citrus), served up with a twist.
If you're looking for a new take on a classic, try Scarpetta's Cucumber Gimlet, made with Tito's Vodka, cucumber, lime, and a dusting of freshly crushed black pepper for a little bite.
Alongside beers that range from Italian selections to local brews, you can also try one of the sommelier's daily wine selections, all of which cost $7 as well.
If you're hungry, don't miss the small bites, which are just $7 and, unlike the drink specials, are actually available all night long. The menu features classic bar snacks like deviled eggs, though like all of Scarpetta's dishes, they're an elevated take, featuring pancetta, pickled red onions, and aleppo pepper.
You can also find Italian favorites like arancini made with wild mushroom and taleggio as well as locatelli ravioli with ricotta, parsley, and marinara.
If you're craving carbs, don't miss the meatball sliders made with beef, veal, pork, asiago, and served in a red sauce — or, if you'd rather try Scarpetta's take on pizza, try the oven-baked flatbread, topped with pesto, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and saba.
You can go for lighter options too, like the whipped ricotta (with lemon zest, olive oil, tapenade, and crostini) or the tuna avocado (topped with salmoriglio, Maldon sea salt, and micro arugula).
"What sets us apart from others is our extended happy hour with a premium cocktail menu, a New York Vibe, and our upbeat energy," says bartender Imani Danielle. "Everyone always leaves with a smile."
Stop by Scarpetta once the workday is done for great deals on high-end food and drink, with one of New York's best spots finding its home in the heart of Philadelphia.
