The StarChefs Rising Star Awards Will Honor the 2019 Standouts of Philadelphia's Culinary Scene & Bar Industry With a Gala, April 16
On Tuesday, April 16, StarChefs, the premier industry magazine, will host a gala and food tasting to celebrate the 2019 "Rising Stars" of Philadelphia's diverse food and drink industry. Since 2003, StarChefs has held the Rising Stars event in 22 different regions throughout the country, and this is their third "class" of rising stars in Philadelphia alone (and their 65th overall).
After a VIP champagne reception at 5:15 and an awards ceremony at 6:15, both of which will be held at The Liberty View at the Independence Visitor Center, there will be a walkaround tasting gala held at the Curtis Atrium from 7 PM - 9:30 PM. The rising stars featured this year include chefs like Tyler Akin (Stock), Matt Harper (Kensington Quarters), Jesse Ito (Royal Sushi & Izakaya), Michael Vincent Ferreri (Res Ipsa), Alexander Yoon (Little Fish), and Chad Williams (Friday Saturday Sunday), alongside bartenders like Paul MacDonald (Friday Saturday Sunday), restauranteurs like Greg Root & Nick Kennedy (Suraya), and sommeliers like Samantha Germani (The Rittenhouse Hotel) and Alexandra Cherniavsky (The Love).
"In a city with a storied French pedigree, our team ate Malaysian kebabs grilled over imported coconut charcoal, fiery Thai herb salads, crispy fried bao, pastrami-stuffed bing, and Tokyo-style sushi—not to mention the "Phoagie," Middle Child's love letter to Philadelphia's sandwich culture and Vietnamese community," says Antoinette Bruno, StarChefs’ Editor-in-Chief.
You can get your tickets here today – general admission tickets are $95 and grant access to the tasting gala, but if you want the full experience, spring for a $125 VIP ticket, which includes admission to the awards ceremony and VIP reception.
