South Street Spring Festival Returns with 10 Blocks, 20 Bands, 30 Restaurants, 125 Vendors and Free Comics, May 4
Enjoy the start of spring with the South Street Spring Festival on Saturday, May 4 from 11 AM - 8 PM, which includes Brauhaus Schmitz’s Maifest, a massive celebration of National Comic Book Day, and more. The festival will take over South Street from Front to 8th and Headhouse Plaza.
Over 30 restaurants & bars will have setups along the long street route serving sips and bites to show off their wares, so bring a strong appetite (and some cash for the vendors). Aside from all the food and drink, you can enjoy free comics for National Comic Book Day, three stages of live music and performances, a Philly Taco eating contest (and yes, we do mean the infamous “Philly Taco”), and more. Since it's also the day of the Kentucky Derby, they'll be featuring drink specials and hosting watch parties, as well as offering specials for Cinco de Mayo for a full weekend of fun.
Maifest, a classic part of the South Street Spring Festival, is also returning for its 7th year. Hosted by Brauhaus Schmitz, this German beer festival in the 700 block of South Street will also be open to the public with pay-as-you-go refreshments, although VIP tickets, which include an appetizer buffet, private restrooms, food and beer tokens, exclusive beers, and a commemorative stein, will cost you $100. Plenty of German food and beers will be available, and you’ll also be able to listen to live German music and see performances throughout the day.
Make this weekend a great one with the South Street Spring Festival — there’s certainly no shortage of fun things to do with this event.
