The Team Behind Suraya, R&D, and Pizzeria Beddia is Bringing Three New Restaurant Concepts to Center City Philly
Defined Hospitality, the team behind Philly favorites like Suraya, R&D, and Pizzeria Beddia – comprised of Greg Root, Nick Kennedy, and Al Lucas – is bringing three new concepts to the Philly area.
Branching out from the Kensington area, where most of Defined Hospitality's restaurants are located, these new concepts will be based in Rittenhouse, with a location on Ludlow Street between 18th and 19th.
The first concept announced will be Condesa, a Mexican restaurant named after one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Mexico City. With 140 seats and a menu focusing on regionally-inspired dishes (including a heavy focus on house-made Mexican corn tortillas), it's sure to draw in big crowds, especially since it's in the heart of such a bustling area. Naturally, the bar program will be helmed by Aaron Deary, the mind behind the cocktails at both Suraya and R&D.
In another part of the building, there will be a yet-unnamed all-day cafe focused around a bakery counter run by Suraya's Chef James Matty, which will serve Stumptown coffee along with its baked goods, and (literally) on top of all of that, the space will feature an 11th floor rooftop taqueria.
Check back for more details as these projects develop, but in any case, it's easy to get excited about new ideas from this inventive, talented team.
