Positano Coast: Welcome to Paradise
If, for a moment, you wish to feel like you’ve stepped out of Philly and into an Italian coastal villa, head to Positano Coast in Old City. A beautiful restaurant with a roof deck overlooking historic City Tavern and Dock Street, Positano Coast made me feel like I was in a whole other place. The restaurant has an earthy, welcoming, summery feel. Bamboo ceilings, drapes and curtains, paper lanterns, and deep blue tile floors made me feel quite calm and relaxed. My friends and I were seated in a lounge area with comfy couches and our own private curtains which we could either close or keep open. It felt very V.I.P.
Positano Coast boasts a 3 hour happy hour every Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 and ALL DAY on Sunday. Each night has it’s own $5 drink special. On this particular Wednesday night, we were treated to $5 Manhattans. Additionally, there are everyday happy hour specials, including $5 signature cocktails (lemon drops, red sangria, and Absolut drinks) as well as $3 beers. I ordered a kamikaze which was delicious and prepared just right. The red sangria was also nice and fruity.
The happy hour food menu was to die for. Items ranged from $1 - $6, and included (but were not limited to) oysters, pesto crostini, focaccia del giorno, positano fries, and gnocchi gorgonzola. My friends and I loved the gnocchi so much that we ordered 3 portions of it!
Not only was the food yummy, but the wait staff was wonderful as well. They were all quite accommodating and friendly, and our waiter was very attentive.
All in all, the delicious and reasonably priced food and drinks, combined with the beachy/calming atmosphere will make me return to enjoy this Italian getaway all summer long.
