Party with Van Gogh at the Art Museum Young Friends Gala

Party with Van Gogh at the Art Museum Young Friends Gala

If you’re like us and love both great art and great parties, you’ll want to save the date for the Young Friends Winter Gala at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Held February 25 in the gorgeous Great Stair Hall, the black-tie event allows guests an unfettered look at the Museum’s featured exhibit – this year it’s Van Gogh Up Close – while sipping on cocktails, nibbling on hors d’oeuvres and mingling with other art lovers.

A special VIP reception will kick off at 7 PM (this ticket gets you access to a special bar and lounge, gift bag and private tour of the 40 Van Gogh works on display), and the main party gets going at 8 PM. Through midnight, attendees can participate in raffles and a silent auction while strolling amongst oil paintings of Parisian and Arlesian landscapes. Specialty drinks will flow from the Stephen Starr-run Granite Hill, which in the past have included creations like the Dragonfly and Flowering Hibiscus.

If you’re not familiar with the group, the Young Friends is a 450-plus member organization aged 21–45, which has a mission of promoting the arts. Recently, they’ve raised funds for a program that buses Camden County public school students to the museum on field trips, have sponsored the Museum’s Art After 5 Friday soirees and purchased several actual art pieces for the museum’s permanent collection. In essence, this group of folks are people who have the right priorities, and can get things done. People you want to know.

The gala goes down on Saturday, February 25, and tickets are available now. The VIP package will run you $275, the regular admission is $175, and group tickets are available for $150 per person when buying four or more (details here). Young Friends members receive a $50 discount. Oh, and most of your purchase is tax-deductible.
