Alley of the Devil

Alley of the Devil
"Happy Hour at the Devils Alley" may be the understatement of the year. Located on 19th and Chestnut streets, this inner city bi-level bar restaurant was once home to a very narrow street, this is apparent once you step into its core. With its brick exposed walls, creative wood highlights, patio furniture and plants galore, this alley's urban roots flourish. You will be cozily surrounded by Philadelphia's metropolis of young business class, college students and a streak of out-of-towners.

Every happy hour at Devils Alley will give you the opportunity to try the special draft of the day, which is selected from it's local beer list. Yards Brawler, Reading Premium, Troegs Nut Brown Ale, O'reilly's Stout, and Yuengling Lager are the local breweries taking precedence in the bar. I must commend their Lion Winter-Warmer, which is a red full-bodied ale.

Their specialty drinks are tagged with clever devil-inspired names, like devil’s DQ, blood orange and the evil-tini. Although their pomegranate sangria tasted like iced robotussin, I hear their raspberry mojitos are a must have

Many may not know that Devils Alley is also known for its BBQ wings. My personal favorite was their mouth-watering “spicy dry rub wings with cucumber salad, I’m trying to watch my weight. Their wing-it Wednesday event, where during happy hour the special draft was served with wings for $5, was through March. But don’t fret, this witty bar restaurant is always looking for new ways to get you to try their red-hot wings.

Now, you may leave with an evil-looking grin on your face, after experiencing Devils Alley. You never knew happy hour here may become your new religion. But don't forget it's a good thing when even in a Satan-inspired place you find a happy hour for the ages, with great friends. And even if that doesn't do it for you, you can always go for the great local beers to entertain your every sense. By the way, don't forget to tip the Alleys devils they'll be waiting to take your order.
