6 Picks for Center City Restaurant Week
Center City Restaurant Week takes Philadelphia by storm January 22–27 and January 29–February 3, which means $35 prix-fixe three-course meals at five-star restaurants throughout the city. But, as we belly up to tables and slide into booths, it’s important to ensure we don’t lose track of what really matters: the booze. That’s why we’ve rounded up six of the top spots to catch a happy hour before your RW dinner. Just remember to tread lightly, you’re going to want to taste your dinner.
Rum Bar: Check out half-priced Mojito Monday and half-priced Daquiri Wednesdays at this Rittenhouse tiki stop. Maybe cachaça isn’t so much sweeter, after all. (2005 Walnut St; 215-751-0404)
Seafood Unlimited: $2.50 lagers? $2.50 lagers! While you’re prepping to enjoy some maritime cuisine, why not toss back a few pints of the region’s go-to beer. Did we mention Yuengling is only $2.50? Selected cocktails are just $5, to boot (270 S. 20th St.; 215-732-3663).
Smokin’ Betty’s: Know what’s better than $2.50 lagers? $2 lagers. And there will be plenty of time to knock ‘em back as Betty’s is offering a four-course dinner, as opposed to the usual three. Appetizer and a soup to go with the lager, followed by beef short rib and coffee hazelnut ice cream? Don’t mind if we do (116 S. 11th St.; 215-922-6500).
Tazia: Martinis often force you to reach elbow-deep into your pockets, but not at this Chinatown dim sum house. Any drink that ends in “tini” is only $3.50 from 3:30–6:30 PM and 10 PM–midnight. Not a bad match for the five-course meal they’re offering for your $35 (101 N. 11th St.; 215-922-2688).
Xochitl: Cinco de Mayo may several months away, but this Headhouse Square Mexican’s $5 house margaritas are never out of season. And you’ll enjoy the Camorones con Caldo that much more with some tequila in your blood (408 S. 2nd St.; 215-238-7280).
