Nightclub & Bar is impressed with Philadelphia’s Rum Bar, so much so that the hospitality publication just named the tropical-themed Rittenhouse hotspot the nation’s Cocktail Lounge of the Year. “It’s the biggest honor we’ve ever received,” says proprietor Adam Kanter. The first place prize brings Rum Bar the opportunity to represent at the Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show, taking place in Las Vegas this March.

The secret to the win is authenticity, Kanter adds, noting that he and his team spend a lot of time in island distilleries and kitchens, working to bring back a bit of the Caribbean to our northeastern city. Over 230 rums are on display at the tiki-decored bar, offered in creative cocktails along with equatorial eats. Currently, the winter menu is in effect, with choices like Jamaican hot chocolate or hot buttered rum, perfect to enliven these chilly (or not so chilly) Mid-Atlantic days.
