February is Bourbon Month at JG Domestic
We already know Jose Garces is a bourbon guy, thanks to the custom label he created for his restaurants, in conjunction with Four Roses distiller Jim Rutledge (Jose Garces Four Roses Single Barrel). Now comes news that the dreary month of February will be a bit more sprightly, thanks to a celebration of the brown spirit at paean to classic American eats and drinks JG Domestic.
All month long, the wood-clad dining room will offer two bourbon tasting flights. Both flights sound incredibly appealing, even though they ring in at very different price points. The “Lawrenceburg” goes for $10, and includes sips of Buffalo Trace, Makers’ Mark and Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, while the $20 “Versailles” features gems Four Roses Single Barrel, Woodford Reserve and Black Maple Hill. A daily changing bar bite to pair with the flight will be $9.
Woodford Reserve fans will want to save the date on Thursday, February 16, when a special happy hour will feature tastings of the Woodford Master’s Rare Rye Collection as well as their standard Kentucky Bourbon, kicking off at 4:30 PM.
Committed Four Roses fanatics, on the other hand, should reserve a spot at the February 22 “Meet the Maker” dinner. For $55, you’ll get to chat with distiller Jim Rutledge while enjoying hors d’ouvres and then a four-course dinner. Expect to pair a variety of bourbon cocktails and pours with dishes like smoked chicken chowder, St. Louis spare ribs with bourbon barbecue sauce and sugary beignets dipped in bourbon butterscotch syrup.
Happy hour runs weekday from 4:30–7:30 PM, so there’s no excuse to miss out on the bourbon-a-ganza going on all month at the Cira Centre.
