Get Punch Drunk at Rum Bar Friday Nights
We don’t advocate getting overly blitzed, but we’re all about sipping spicy rum cocktails. To that end, we’re excited about Punch Drunk, launching on March 30. Each Friday, Adam Kanter and the rest of the Rum Bar crew will mix up a varied selection of rum punches, which will be available throughout the evening (or until the punch bowls run dry) for $7 a glass.
A test run last week included tasty-sounding options like Jamaican Rum Punch (Appleton VX, Appleton White, falernum syrup, orange juice, lime juice, bitters); Springtime Rum Punch (DonQ Limon, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, lavender syrup, rhubarb bitters, crème de violette); and Tropical Rum Punch (Cruzan Banana, Malibu Mango, Bacardi Superior, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, guava nectar, passion fruit syrup). The selection will change weekly, but you can be sure of creative concoctions that make good use of the 230 rums in stock at the Rittenhouse bar.
“My first experience with rum punch was on a beach in St. Kitts,” Kanter says. “A jerk chicken hut gave one free rum punch with the meal, and before I knew it, I had bought three more.” Watch out, Friday nights!
