Perhaps the best part about living in Philadelphia in May is the chance to eat and drink outdoors in the breezy spring weather. On Wednesday, May 9, Square 1682 is launching outdoor seating for the year, and celebrating this happy occasion by taking over Sansom Street with an all-day, pop-up barbecue street fest featuring plenty of seasonal bites and an array of ONEHOPE wines.

From noon–8 PM, the sidewalk beside the Hotel Palomar will be host to chef Guillermo Tellez and staff will be masterfully making grilled eats of all kinds. The day's menu features beer brats, chicken chorizo sausage, St. Louis-style barbecue ribs, hot dogs, burgers and plenty picnic-worth sides to go along ($3–$10). There’s even dessert to be had — an ice cream sundae served atop a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie.

Of course, there will be libations a plenty. Square 1682 has partnered with ONEHOPE Winery, a California-based company that donates a large portion of all proceeds to assorted charities like breast cancer and autism research, the fight against AIDS, children’s hospitals and many more. Glasses will go for $8 each during the fest, perfect for pairing with the smokey bites of BBQ. So whether you sneak out during lunchtime or stop over after work, there’s no excuse to miss this outdoor party.
