A host of Philly’s newest restaurants have rolled out happy hour deals. Check out where to find the hottest food and drink specials, below.
Alla Spina: Marc Vetri’s North Broad birreria sports one of the best Italian beer programs in the city, thanks to beverage director Steve Wildy. There are also plenty of local faves, including the house brew, Victory Novello (not available anywhere else). Grab a comfy seat in the graffiti-bedecked lounge or pull up a stool beneath the leg-warmer-wearing pig that oversees the bar from 4:30–6 PM weekdays or 10:30 PM–midnight, Monday–Thursday to enjoy the savings below.
Drink: $2 off all drafts; $3 Brooklyn Lager cans; $4 Peroni bottles; $7 negroni (on tap); $7 wine
Food: $1.50 oysters; $2 porcini deviled eggs; $3 pretzels; $3 beef-fat french fries; $6 salumi misto; $6 mortadella hotdog
Route 6: Also on North Broad is Stephen Starr’s seafood house, and the light, airy room features a skylit large bar and lounge area that’s perfect for a casual snack. Or, take the fun outside with a seat at one of the patio picnic tables, and don’t miss the house special Route 6 Ale, a refreshing and full-bodied offering from White Birch Beer in New Hampshire. Check out the deals you can enjoy from 4:30–6:30 PM every weekday. (Tip: since Alla Spina’s deals end a half-hour earlier, this is the perfect opportunity to happy hour hop.)
Drink: $4 draft beers; $5 house wines; $6 specialty cocktails
Food: $1 oysters (3 piece minimum); $2 housemade chips; $4 cup o’ chowder, johnny cakes & basket of fries; $6 bluefish dip & crab deviled eggs; $8 fried oyster sliders (with chips), wood-oven baked mussels & cheeseburger (with chips)
Tashan: This high-end Indian fusion spot on South Broad recently introduced outdoor seating, an array of tables set out on the wide Avenue of the Arts sidewalk. Take a seat there or in the swanky, dark-wood lounge and bar from 5–7 PM weekdays to enjoy “777” happy hour deals (a nod to the restaurant’s address).
Drink: $7 wines & select cocktails; half-off all beer selections
Food: $7 small bites including xacutti pork sliders, Mangalorean sausages, naga beef sumi, chicken patanga, Bombay bhel & gol gappa
Square Peg: The former Marathon on the corner of 10th and Walnut has been taken over by the crew behind Old City’s Cuba Libre, who brought it chef Matt Levin to run the elevated American diner-style kitchen. Happy hour here is a late night affair, and it’s a good one. Stop into the bi-level, wood-filled room 9–11 PM, Monday–Thursday or 10 PM–midnight, Friday–Saturday for some serious fun (including a cup of bacon!) before you head home.
Drink: $4 select drafts; $3 select cans; $4 OFF specialty cocktails and micro-distilled spirits
Food: $1 cup o’ bacon; $1 deviled eggs (two halves)
