Mega-Bad Movie Night at Academy of Natural Sciences, May 31
The Academy of Natural Sciences is more than just a museum. In addition to live exhibits like the butterfly garden, the Drexel insitution hosts after-hours events. As part of the Mega-Bad Movie Night series, on Thursday, May 31, Academy experts will host a screening the “awesomely awful” Sharktopus.
Grab beers and snacks from the onsite vendor Enjoy complimentary beers and snacks and settle in for a Mystery Science Theater 3000-esque show, as the scientists lead you through this flick about a half-shark, half-octupus created for the military that wreaks havoc (who woulda thought?) in Mexico.
Whether or not the film is, as the promo posters put it, “the most gripping suspense you’ll ever experience,” it’s sure to be a good time. Tickets are $15 each, available online, and the event is likely to sell out. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with about 1½ hours to mix and mingle (the butterflies will sit on your wrist if you let them) before showtime.
