Students Run Philly Fundraising Happy Hour, June 28
Founded in 2004, nonprofit Students Run Philly Style helps disadvantaged children and young adults find structure - and perhaps inspiration - in life through the medium of long-distance running. Since the program’s inception, over 2500 students have trained with more than 200 mentors, running side-by-side at least three times a week, learning about self-discipline and getting healthy along the way.
Many participants get sponsors and run Broad Street - these kids are primed for real races. This year, the program wants to send kids to their first big race, the Rock ‘N Roll Half Marathon. To cover the registration costs (which will total around $1,000), the organization is hosting a happy hour on Thursday, June 28 from 6–9 PM.
Your $10 donation gains entry to the party at Center City’s Fox and Hound, which will be offering drink specials all night. Drink a beer or two so kids can run? Seems fair enough.
