Drink Philly First Friday Raises Over $1,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand

At the beginning of August Drink Philly celebrated two years of hosting First Friday art shows at our Old City world headquarters, and we are thrilled to announce the party raised over $1,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. The childhood cancer fund is a great cause, one we’ve supported over the years, and it makes a fun evening even better to know some extra money is going to the important nonprofit.

We couldn’t have done it without all of you. Huge thanks go out several folks:

– To our food and drink sponsors. If you didn’t have a chance to stop by, you missed a suckling pig, stuffed and roasted whole by Townsend Wentz of McCrossen’s Tavern. Wentz and crew sliced and pulled and served delicious plates of the pork all evening long. At the other end of the office/gallery, Meredith Maciolek of Philadelphia Distilling skillfully whipped up lemon-themed cocktails throughout the night, using Bluecoat Gin, Penn 1681 Vodka and XXX Shine Whiskey.

– To the artists who donated works. On the walls were dozens of paintings, drawings and photographs, and along with some sculpture and a few books, all of these were donated by the creators, so that we could auction them off for charity. Check out the full list of contributors, and their websites, below. Also thanks to Dave Sanders, who provided a great live jazz soundtrack.

– To Barra, the new incarnation of the restaurant just below our office, which hosted a terrific after party with great pizza and drink specials, and to Lushlife, who helped keep the room jumping.

– And lastly, to everyone who made time in their busy weekend schedule to come over and wish us well, taste the good food, sip on the drinks and — especially — everyone who took the opportunity to bid in the silent auction for the art or drop a few bucks in our donation jar at the door.

Raise a glass to several more years!
